ISLANDS AND BEACHES

ZANZIBAR

Tanzania has the most beautiful, clean and unpopulated beaches in the world. Island of Zanzibar offer few of these beaches in its two main island, Unguja and Pemba. These two island will spice your vacation whether is just you day at the beach, family vacation, a special day with one another, or one very special moment of your life time called honey moon. Remember, the nick name for the island is "Spice Island". The name did not come by accident, the island main industries are spices like cloves, nutmeg, pepper, and cinnamon. Spice beaches in Zanzibar are the most relaxing spot with clean and clear waters, calm cool breeze with friendly sun rays which will spice your occasion. What you will see before your eyes will be an experience of a life time. Any setting like family, corporate, friends, students, couples or romantic will be able to have the thrilling and warm effect the island can offer.


MAFIA

Mafia is another hot spot for those who like scuba diving and fishing games. Due to its untold stories to the world, Mafia will be your favorite island where you can have all the time in the world to enjoy your moment as well as experience the best natural beauty of the marine life. Some of the fish found in this island are king fish, marlin, sailfish, horse mackerel, and huge rock cod. Du gong, which are rare and exotic breeds are found in this island. The island offer six sites for scuba diving, which offer the best and most challenging experience along the coast. The best time for the sport is October through March which is before the rainy season (April and May).


BAGAMOYO

Bagamoyo is the oldest town in Tanzania and one of the world heritage site in the country. Its history is influenced by Indians and Arabs traders, the Germany colonial and missionaries. The town is located about 70km from Dar-es-Salaam. The town, which lies beside beautiful Indian Ocean beaches, has several points of interest which can be visited over the course of few days. The best way to see Bagamoyo is on foot, and the ideal first stop after is the department of Arts and Antiquities, located in an old German fort. A tour guide will join you at the fort, and will be your companion for the entire time you are visiting the sites. With white sands beaches and other historical places, the town is the perfect destination if you want to get away for few days to a more quiet and relaxing spot.


DAR ES SALAAM

Dar es Salaam (or Dar) is the largest city in Tanzania along the Indian Ocean. The city is a center for the central government as well as home to most foreign missions and embassies in the country. With the largest port in the country and busiest in East Africa, the city is also the gateway to Zanzibar or Southern circuit for Safari and other destination. The city has a lot to offer when it comes to leisure time with rich and vibrant cultures. On the city shore you will find Coco Beach. This is located at Oyster Bay and is mostly visited by the locals. The Oyster Bay Hotel overlooks the beach. The Yacht Club at Msasani Peninsula which require membership, with a private beach can be another place where you can enjoy your day in the cool waters with calm breeze.

Other beaches which are located about 30km are Bahari Beach, Jangwani, Kunduchi, Silversands and Whitesands. All these beaches have nearby accommodation and hotels or own them. These places offer variety of settings for individuals, family, groups, students, corporate as well as romantic. A variety of water sports are also permitted on the beaches.


TANGA

Tanga is one of the oldest city in Tanzania, sitting along the Indian Ocean. Its history goes back to the 1800s years when the Germans chose as their military post for East Africa region. The second largest sea port is also located here. You can have best time of your life when you visit the city which offer nice sand beaches, like Raskazoni and Mwarongo just to mention the few. Other attractions places includes Amboni Caves, Toten Island, Tanga War Graves and Memorials, Tongoni Ruins, and protected coastal mangroves.

The town of Pangani which is about 45km south of Tanga is another place for your holiday by the sea. It is virgin and tranquil. You can be yourself with fresh air and cool breeze only, or left undisturbed with all amenities and good fresh sea food at any time. This quiet place with unspoilt nature will make you swim, dive, fish, ride boats and even tour this town full of Germany history. Also, Pangani River, once an important transport channel for slaves and ivory, is one of the biggest river in Tanzania which supplies its water to this coastal town before it feeds Indian Ocean.
